The Aquatic, Nearshore, and Riparian Habitat Improvement category focuses on actions that restore aquatic habitat and habitats ecologically associated with aquatic habitat in the Lower Fox River/Green Bay ecosystem. Examples of habitats ecologically associated with aquatic habitats include coastal wetlands and other nearshore habitats, islands in Green Bay and its tributary rivers, and stream bank corridors. The abundance and diversity of top aquatic predators in Green Bay and its tributary rivers have declined, producing an unbalanced fish community with an excess of exotic prey species. The Trustees have a goal to increase predator populations and restore a healthy ecosystem in the Lower Fox River and Green Bay, which will improve water quality and enhance wildlife habitat.
